Sometimes it's hard to know whether or not a resource from a Yelp or Google search will meet your expectations. Fortunately for us, we found Silvia at Bay Area Garden Design and couldn't be more pleased with the design she created, incorporating our needs for a drought tolerant landscape using mostly native California plants and trees, blending in some hardscape and lighting features. From start to finish, Silvia listened to our perhaps vague ideas but put forth a cohesive and beautiful design on paper. During the planning process, Silvia was always responsive in answering inquiries and incorporating our additional thoughts. Silvia and Bay Area Garden Design executed a wonderful project for our home in Milpitas. Silvia did a great job of owning the design from end to end. She oversaw measurements, drafting of plans, selection of plants per our specifications (low maintenance/low water), and recommendations of reputable contractors. My wife and I are very happy with the result and cannot wait to see the blossoming beauty in our yard unfold. We highly recommend Silvia and will be using her for any future projects.

Silvia is very professional and knowledgeable in designing our front-yard with California native plants. She helped us ordering the plants from nursery and marking them down on ground for planting by our gardener. I had initially met with another landscape designer who typically worked on larger projects and was going to cost more than I would like to pay. That designer recommended Silvia from Bay Area Garden Design as one who is newer to the industry. My experience with Silvia has been very good. She is detailed oriented and picked up on even my slightest mentions. She knows the products whether they are plants or landscaping hardware. The design is beautiful and has all the details which an installer would need.

We have been very pleased with the design work provided by Silvia of Bay Area Garden Design. We had a vague idea of what we wanted and Silvia was patient and very helpful in guiding us through the process. She is very responsive to questions and concerns. Silvia kept our budget in mind when creating the design and helped us work with our selected contractor to make small modifications to the plan to stay within that budget. Our project is scheduled to start in the next month. I’m sure all will go well and I’m confident Silvia will be there to see the project to completion. Working with Silvia from Bay Area Garden Design was an absolute pleasure. From start to finish we felt heard and supported. Silvia is a consummate professional and was always thoroughly prepared for every meeting. She has excellent attention to detail and was very responsive in all our communication. This was the first time we had ever embarked on this kind of project and we have limited find gardening experience ourselves. She was so patient answering all our questions and providing guidance for weeks after. I was given the consultation session as a gift from my husband. He knows how much I enjoy spending time with my plants but my plants feel the opposite. I did not have too much expectation to the consultation because I don’t have a specific goal and budget for my garden so far. In addition, I don’t know how Sylvia is going to help me because my garden knowledge is basically zero. Nursery staffs always cast a pitiful look when I tried to formulate my questions.
Thank God my husband found Sylvia. Right upon the moment she stepped into my garden, she exactly knew what my garden needs - basic stuffs. From drip irrigation, soil amendments, to plants options based on the location of my garden, she taught me everything feasible for my level and my budget. During the one-hour session, I could not stop jotting down the notes. (I wish I brought a bigger notepad.) I am also a fan of her approach to create a sustainable garden by using organic sources instead of plastic fabrics. From the first minute to the last, Sylvia poured her heart and soul to guide me through the immediate remedy that my garden desperately needs. I was expecting the consultation would mostly focus on promoting her design business, but to my surprise, Sylvia did not mention a word. She was here to share her knowledge and answer my questions. Seeing her earnest attitude on such a small project, she is definitely a person to trust for any bigger projects in the future!
