Trains are now running much better. An hour from Dune Park to Millennium Stadium. However, I believe the seats are 20+ years old and need to be replaced. Very uncomfortable. Windows are filthy dirty. And the air conditioning is horrible when it’s 85 or higher.

For this former resident. It's the best kept secret for visiting. Several IN stations have ample parking and you get dropped off right downtown.

I love taking this train to and from Chicago. Prevents me from having to deal with traffic. The trains always clean, and the temperature is always right. Helpful staff! It drops you off at Millennium Station so you can get straight onto the L. It’s always REALLY affordable. One way is $10.25. Cheaper than driving and paying for parking.

Terrific way to get from one area to the other. It's from South Bend and can get you all the way to downtown Chicago. The fare is nice. Up to 3 kids under the age of 12 can ride for free (if accompanied by an adult). You can purchase round trip tickets as well. Only way I take if I gotta be downtown Chicago so I can avoid all those high parking prices!

The amenities are average. One must remember this is a commuter rail service, so don't expect the services you find at stations for Amtrak. Most conductors are friendly, and all are helpful. Trains are not as clean as they should be, but the trade-off is that free WiFi is now available. One thing to watch out for... the sound on the intercom system is turned up entirely too high. It's painful to the ears, and is quite obvious due to the constant feedback, yet conductors are completely oblivious that it's a problem.

Easy way to get to Chicago without driving some stops include South Bend Regional Airport, Michigan City, Dunes State park, Portage, McCormick Place, and Millenium station.
