Over 4-5 months, working with Guy and his team helped us make our dream come true, which was to rent our house and move to Madrid.

We completed significant upgrades, working directly with Guy’s contractors. We appreciated working with his team and avoided the usual hassle and uncertainty of working with most contractors. They did excellent work, were reliable, were easy to coordinate with, and their prices were also very reasonable.

Guy and our day-to-day property manager, Shelly, did a great job managing the contractors while we were abroad as well as vetting our new tenants. We’re also quite happy with the dollar amount they got on the monthly rent.

We couldn’t be happier with the process, the team and Guy’s experience and strategic guidance helping us manifest such a significant life change!

They breathed life back into our kitchen leaving us with a super open, modern space that harmonizes with the mid century vibe of our house. In 2019, we completed a year-long major renovation with Karen and Guy, and we couldn't be happier with the results. We spent a long time interviewing design/build teams, and we couldn't find the right fit or vision...until we found Vidal Design Collaborative. The moment we saw their portfolio of other projects, we were sold.

I have so much admiration for Karen's design sense. It's such a treat to live in such a beautiful space, especially when considering that it was originally a dark and boxy home that was not very inviting. With Karen's vision and their skilled architect, we created an open floor plan that has great flow. We added windows and light. And tiles. And built-ins. And character.

We had great experiences with virtually all of their subs, but you can choose how involved you are with them since VDC project manages everything. We loved our project manager Steven, and the other VDC core team, Dion and Shelly. The finishing team (Humberto and his crew) who did the dry wall, carpentry, paint, tile, etc - did such an incredible job. True craftsmanship and attention-to-detail. Plus, they worked so hard to help us meet a move-in deadline when our rental lease was ending.

They were able to stay within our agreed-upon budget, and they were realistic about timelines, how long it would take to get permits, etc. Basically no games.

Lastly, Karen's perspective as a parent infuses her design-style, so there are many cool and practical things that she suggested (a second/lower shower head in our shower that our kids use exclusively, the height of the bookshelves in their play area that make books more accessible, etc) that we still reflect on today.

Since 2019, we have done 2 outdoor projects with them, which also turned out so well. We highly recommend!

Karin designed some outdoor projects for us that tied the full property together as well as helped us with some design elements for the interior. The "magic" that Karin brings is her approach to utilize existing components and to rework/weave into something new and fresh. With the introduction of her design expertise, we were provided with a more harmonious space, which was what we needed. We would definitely recommend Vidal Design.

We absolutely recommend Vidal Design for any home or outdoor renovations. We were novices to home design, and when we started the process with Vidal Design, we only had a vague sense of what we wanted done. We just weren't happy with our house. They did such an excellent job of understanding who we were, what we wanted, what we really wanted, and most importantly, guiding us through the process while understanding that my husband and I are both incredibly busy. They were ready to talk us through decisions and process when we had questions, but also ready to present us with options that were carefully curated to our tastes when we didn't have time to have questions. They *got* our weird taste and elevated it. They incorporated odd little knick knacks that were important to us and made them part of our home, rather than just trying to sell us vases. They are thoughtful and fun in their work. They worked quickly, delivered on deadlines, and we were so happy with them, we hired them to redo our sad little backyard as well! Our house is gorgeous and warm and completely us now: a functional, stylish, fun, and charming space that feels like home.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience with Vidal Design Collaborative. We hired them to remodel our outdated galley kitchen — an awkward space that other contractors/designers just couldn’t crack. The others suggest cosmetic fixes, but nothing too inspiring. It was a whole different story when VDC came in — Karen had a vision for the space that no one else thought of. She figured out a way to open it up, while mirroring existing architectural details in the house.

Once we hired them, the process was very smooth. From initial designs to revisions and then actual construction — everyone was professional and on top of things. Their site manager was a lovely dude who was always reachable.

And the result is stunning. Every finish and design element is thoughtful and just gorgeous. But beyond that, Karen’s design has changed the entire flow of our house. It works better in every way, and I’m so grateful. Are they a little more expensive than some other places? Yes. Is it worth it? Definitely. We’ve done other remodeling jobs with other companies, and they’ve been headaches in 100 different ways. Not so with VDC. If we have another project in the future, no question we’ll be hiring them again.
