Billy designed a great planting plan for our hillside garden, incorporating many drought-tolerant, native California plants as we’d requested. He also shared his recommended list of contractors and gardeners, and guided us through the process of getting quotes. On planting day, he was on site to spot the plants and answer questions. As the garden matures, Billy has helped with pruning and has coached us on how to maintain a healthy garden. We appreciate his collaborative approach and willingness to provide as much or as little help as his clients wish. Billy’s a pleasure to work with and his knowledge and expertise have been invaluable to us.

After we finished a top-to-bottom renovation of our 1961 house, Billy totally redesigned our yard. He listened closely to what we wanted, gave us lots of options of plants and asked us which ones we liked, and came up with a perfect plan. Working side-by-side with a landscaper, he made sure everything was installed as he intended and as we wanted. He was a total pleasure to work with. I recommend him most highly.

When we were looking for a landscape designer, one recommendation said “Don’t look any further, just call Billy.” That was such good advice. Billy is friendly, professional, knowledgeable and so easy to work with. He took the time to understand our vision for our front yard which we’re on our way to realizing. He did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it. That’s one of the highest compliments you can pay a contractor. I highly recommend him.

I love the way Billy approaches yard design. He confers with his client to learn his client’s goal and uses his knowledge to shape that vision. Especially helpful is his practice of giving several suggested plants for each section of the space. This opens more choice for his client to select their favorites. He designed our yard several years ago and it has matured to be exactly what I envisioned. And a bonus…he makes it fun!

We really enjoyed working with Billy Goodnick on a complete redo of our home landscape. Billy is generous with his wealth of information and years of experience here in Santa Barbara. Our goal was to install a garden which we could generally maintain ourselves, and Billy provided a creative design and selection of plants that set us up for success. Excellent integration with existing hardscape; great use of drought tolerant/native flora; beautiful plant palette that complements our home; and excellent use of our limited space for growing fruits and vegetables. We appreciated that Billy would tell us when something was just not going to work. We needed that feedback and the alternatives he provided. We have received so many compliments on our new garden from people who walk by, but more importantly it brings us such joy to spend time in our new garden. We highly recommend Billy!
