Bearss Landscaping was recommended to us as someone to consider for the landscape project for our new home near Buena Vista, CO. The landscaping was the final phase of our two year home construction project.
Since we lived in Ohio, Bearss Landscape architect, Mike Enger consulted with us first via phone to gather specifics regarding our project. He did on site inspections, made recommendations, and created a landscape blueprint.
When we had the chance to meet with Mike in person at the job site, we were very impressed. Mike arrived 10 minutes early, with a full presentation. His knowledge, expertise and professionalism was very apparent. He took time to go over the blueprint, walk the site with us, answer questions and present a detailed estimate for all materials and labor. When the meeting concluded, we had everything we needed to make decisions. It was Mike’s thoroughness, his attention to detail, and his knowledge that convinced us to not even pursue quotes from other contractors.
Bearss Landscaping arrived precisely when they said, and began a sizable project. All of the Bearss employees were friendly, very knowledgeable and dedicated professionals. We were able to be there at the house for about 30% of the project, before returning to Ohio. Since we were 1200 miles away, Mike Enger sent us daily progress reports and numerous pictures. That was a big plus to working with the pros at Bearss.
While in Ohio, we received several compliments from our Colorado neighbors about the new landscaping, When we returned to Colorado, pulling into the driveway was a “Wow!”moment. Living in a high alpine desert, we were amazed by the landscape transition to our new home.
Bearss added large sculpted mounds with boulders, changing the topography and the entire look of the front of the home. They added extensive hardscape creating two dry creeks formed from various rock and boulders. The project also included irrigation system, Aspens, Spruce, Ponderosa Pines, native grasses, perennial beds and deer fencing.
Three days after we arrived, Mike met with us again to make sure that we were satisfied with their work. We were extremely satisfied, so much so that we are now looking at Phase Two.

Bearss Landscaping has managed our sprinkler system for several years, turning it on in the spring and winterizing it each fall. Over the past couple of years, we’ve also had them prune our trees, and we’re in the queue to have them landscape our back yard. I can’t say enough about the quality of their service and expertise and the friendliness and professionalism of their team. We’ve watched them grow as a company and are impressed at their responsiveness, how they train new people, how they work to grow their winter business so that they can keep their employees year-round and how every single person we come in contact with is super friendly and willing to teach us more about our sprinkler system, trees and bushes. Kudos to Josh Bearss and his team for building an awesome local company in Buena Vista.
