We didn't stay at the Hand Hotel, but we did shop there. The Hand is located in a great spot downtown and has some nice shopping. There were also some great historical books to look at while waiting on others.

Most importantly, the customer service was second to none. We purchased a hat and then accidentally left it at a local restaurant. The manager went to the restaurant, found the hat and mailed it back to our home in Louisiana.

This was very kind and most meaningful to my daughter, who loved the hat and hated she left it.

Definitely recommend this staff!

Charming and Welcoming Stay at The Hand Hotel

The Hand Hotel is a gem! Its rustic charm is beautifully complemented by how well-maintained everything is. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed, thanks to Kat at the front desk. She was absolutely awesome—friendly, warm, and made us feel right at home.

The rooms are exactly what you’d hope for in a rustic hotel: cozy, clean, and full of character. Every detail was noteworthy, and you could tell care had been taken to ensure guests feel comfortable.

Breakfast in the morning was a delightful surprise! It was delicious and the perfect way to start the day. It’s clear that the team here takes pride in providing an exceptional experience.

If you’re looking for a charming, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay, The Hand Hotel is a perfect choice. Highly recommend!

Needed a safe place out of the storm, literally! Mike was great, friendly and checked me in. I found my room clean, comfortable and was greeted by some much needed Golden Retriever kisses from Hazel. Pet friendly, charming and close to bars and restaurants. Thank you Kat and Mike for a pleasant stay, although it was great to get home!!

This was our 2nd time staying at the Hand Hotel and it did not disappoint. In fact, it's become our new favorite annual getaway. The owners care about the history of the hotel and its place in the community and are passionate about continuing to implement quality upgrades in keeping with that history. If you care about quality, hospitality, affordability, and supporting local business, this might be the place for you. Comfortable beds, nice breakfast and beautiful sun room/ upper deck. Owner Cat is very warm and welcoming.

We stayed here for our anniversary with plans to ski at Breckenridge and tour around that area. However there were a few pain points we felt which made our stay subpar:
- don't stay in the tiny room "Trapper" which doesn't even have enough space to open a check in size bag. Simple things like hard to operate doorknobs further degraded the experience
- if you are a vegetarian most days you won't have anything warm to eat. I've had wayy better breakfasts at bed and breakfasts before which have made to order coffee, eggs and even crepes
- there is no daily room service and no one at the counter to ask questions or greet. We only met Katie on the last day and wish she had been there on all the days we were there!
- the distance from Breckenridge becomes considerable during stormy winter days with terrible whiteouts and icy road conditions
- fair play is a dead town with hardly anything going on and so overall for the price, distance and general experience I feel this is more a 3 star rating than the 5 I expected :/

The staff here is fabulous, forgive me I don't remember the girl's name but I remember Mike. Both were outstanding with helping us get acclimated with Fairplay with restaurants. You are also greeted by the most loving golden retriever who is a great mascot for the hotel. Mike gave us great pointers on where to go while we headed to our next destination. They were great places, the kids absolutely enjoyed it. This hotel is unique, something about walking back in time with a slight modern twist. We actually found this place since our daughter wanted to stay at a haunted hotel. There are no TVs in the rooms we stayed in, but I honestly loved that. The views from our rooms were amazing, there is a back deck you can walk out on and see the river with the mountains in the background. Just down the street is The South Park museum, you get to see how the town was set up in the mining days, from trains, to schools, drug store, etc. very neat and they had a search for the kids to play with. At the gift shop there is a cat named Louise who has lived there for 15 years and she is such a lovely touch. The whole area is animal friendly. I can't rave enough about this place, thank you for such a great experience, the kids keep asking us why we didn't stay longer.

Fun place to stay and great scenery. The Hotel is supposedly haunted. Nice deck in back to sit and relax. The air is thin
so it's harder to breathe. Totally recommend a stay. Bring a gold pan
and do some panning in the river.

For the amount of money we paid for one night the amenities could have been better the water pressure in the shower & sink was horrible
There was no TV someone tried to enter our room as we were trying to go to sleep
They need to have a parking area for guests I've worked in hotels off & on for 10 plus years ALWAYS ask for ID when a guest would check the lady at the Did not that bothered me The beds could have been softer the ceiling has cracks in it ! We were disappointed to say the least my husband took me up there to fish and get away for the night as I've been battling cancer and it was to celebrate my birthday. The rooms were nice but and staff was nice they need to make some improvements.
