Our lived one is at Alden Garden Bloomingdale, and we can't praise the staff and every department enough. The wait staff in the dining room makes a special effort to remember all the residents' names and address them personally during their meals. The nurses and CNA ‘s are incredibly attentive to the residents' needs. The activity director and her staff have significantly improved the facility's social activities with a lot of new ideas. Of course, the director and her staff have always been exceptional and very helpful. You know that your loved one is well taken care of, which is our main concern.

My father has lived here for 4 years. He is very happy living here due to the attentive staff. He likes the food and portions, his health is monitored. I have been impressed with their communication and keeping me informed of his health and well being. I considered other available options but this stood out due to staff friendliness (they know all residents names and converse with them. This was not the case at other facilities). His room is spacious and clean, hallways are well lit, wide elevators and clean public areas. Our experience has been very positive and I encourage you to consider this for your loved ones care.

My Grandma was not looked after while she was at this facility ended up going to the hospital from here 3 times in one week. They neglected her and her needs. “Assisted living” should be in quotation marks more like fully independent living because the staff certainly don’t help anyone but themselves.

We moved Mom into Alden Gardens the week it opened (6 years ago) and have been thrilled with every aspect. The staff are amazing and it is a joy to see the positive relationships between staff/staff and staff/residents. Mom constantly tells us she doesn't have a care in the world ... A lovely home, good food, attentive & caring nursing staff, quick maintenance if needed, conscientious housekeepers, and everyone is so kind & respectful to her. If I have questions regarding her care, the staff is quick to respond to me and help as needed. Dad lived in the nursing home (also an Alden property) right next door. It was a perfect solution because Mom could walk over to see him each day. During the winter months, the Alden Gardens staff even escorted her next door to make sure she got there safely. We have been so grateful for the many, many ways the Alden Gardens staff have gone out of their way to care for our family's needs and help my parents make the best of a difficult situation as they were forced to live separately due to Dad's health problems. I feel blessed that we were able to find such a wonderful home for my parents.

If you are reading this review you are probably having to make a decision in regard to transitioning your mother or father into a more supportive living environment for their well-being and most importantly their safety. This is a life changing decision for both the child of the parent and their parent. I started this journey about a year ago, a painstaking process to say the very least. Then, I came upon Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale and met Sandy Horwath the director of admissions and I knew I had found a new "home" for my mom. Mrs. Horwath displayed the utmost empathy for my mother and myself. She patiently answered my endless array of questions as we begun the process to have my mom added to the waitlist for an apartment. During this time Mrs. Horwath contacted me every month to let me know the status of my mother's move in date. My mother moved in September 2018 and her quality of life changed in a way that brought her increased comfort and support. When you walk into the lobby you immediately feel at home. Carpeted hallways and sitting rooms and upholstered furniture add to the warmth of the environment. More critical than anything, is the staff that supports the residents. From the director of nursing, Amy Heitzmann, the compliance director, Denise McNabb, and the support staff, utilizing a direct care model they truly exhibit the utmost of professionalism, support, and kindness to their resident and their families. I have truly been supported in assisting my mom in every aspect of this life transition. From an individual who asks lots of questions, and looks for reassurances, I have never been turned away, but always acknowledged and supported. Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale offers a variety of activities and support systems, seven days a week from morning to night. There is a welcome hustle and bustle of the residents and abundant support and kindness. I now sleep more peacefully, knowing my mom is safe and sound and looked after with the highest quality of care and compassion. Alden Gardens is a blessing for the resident and their families.

Until her very recent passing, my mom had lived a wonderful life at Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale. Gigi Guzman, director and her team provided an environment where the residents are well supported and cared for. The residents
are safe and nurtured as if they were living in their own homes. Over the past years, the staff and residents became family to us. There was never a time where I felt my mom was not cared for. They went above and beyond to meet her needs in every capacity possible. If I had a question or concern I could approach any staff member to assist me. I wish this space allowed me to list the names of each of the 60+ staff members that have devoted their lives to creating quality life for the residents of Alden Gardens. These individuals deserve special recognition for providing exceptional, high quality care for the residents. They exhibit compassion and kindness in a incredible manner. This is nurtured by their respect for each other and the work they have committed themselves to. I am abundantly grateful to each and every staff member that touched my mom’s life. Your care and support allowed me to rest easily because of all of you.

I have yet to visit my aunt, but I need to say how appreciative our family is for Sylvia. She called to merely reschedule a visit and ended up going to my aunt’s room to teach her how to call from her iPad AFTER her shift was up. After several attempts of FaceTime not working, she used Messenger. She was so kind and went above and beyond what was asked. If this is the type of employee Alden has working for them, this is where I would want my loved ones to go. Thank you, Sylvia, for your genuine care and compassion. — Joy

Our Mom has been a resident here for over three years. We have found the amenities to be beyond question. The staff acts more like family or friends than staff. They know all the family members by site and some by name. If we have a question, they are more than willing to take the time to listen and explain, or, if necessary, get the answer for us.

They have various holiday brunches, dinners and barbecues during the year where all the family is welcome to come and share the day with their loved one. The food is delicious and healthy; no concerns in that area.

We have found that everyone here is willing to go that extra step to make everyone feel at home. We have even gotten to know the family members of other residents over time, so they too become a part of the "extended family."

The location is ideal. Right off of Route 53, there are tons of shopping and dining venues in the neighborhood. Residents love to go to lunch, a movie or a shopping trip. Alden also provides many opportunities for residents to go on outings on their bus. There are numerous churches in the area and every effort has been made to provide an opportunity to worship, or not,as each individual decides.

Mom lived right behind me for years, but I feel she has thrived since being here. Having people of her own age to talk, eat, and play with has done wonders. I think I can speak for our whole family when I say that I highly recommend Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale.
