Currently have close friend (for whom I have POA) in the facility. I chose this for her and remain a strong advocate for The Arthur Home. Communication with staff is easy and clear, the people at all levels working with my friend are competent, kind, supportive, and attentive to my friend's needs. They arrange and provide transport to and from her doctor appointments at Carle in addition to have a doctor on staff. She is very happy with the Home even while hoping to return to her home sometime in the new year. There are few nursing homes with skilled care available in the Champaign-Urbana area. My research into comparable facilities indicates the only one is Meadowbrook, a place that has ceased accepting individuals who are not members of the Clark-LIndsey community.

Just read the visitor guidelines and know they don't follow them. There are a lot of good ppl there, but how you manage a business strongly dictates the behavior of the staff. The director in my opinion shouldn't be in any nursing home facility and shouldn't work with women! I won't get into detail regarding the knowledge I have, but as an educated nurse, I can say for a fact that when my mil passed it was their fault for not following covid guidelines. If the director was doing his job it would have never happened. There are other places in this area that would be a much better choice for your loved one. Should they get a new director, that knows how to be a prudent director, I have all the faith that this establishment could be top rated. Like I said, there are a lot of good ppl there, just horrible management. Unfortunately, management can either make or break a business.

We have spent the last week scrambling to try to get our mother accepted here. Her Medicare plan for rehab was up and she needed to be moved to long term care. First they denied her because of a mistake in her medical chart that we had clarified from her Neurologist. We had to get her out and drive her an hour each way just to get it done. We were supposed to have her moved Tuesday. Then they tell us they’ll review the paperwork again and then absolutely refuse to call is back. Despite the fact that they knew she had to be moved Tuesday. We spent 2 days calling, her current assisted living facility called and the rehab center called. Not one single returned call. Then when I finally called the executive director and an hour later they call and say they could take her. Another hour later they call back and said they can’t because they don’t like her Medicaid plan. Now keep in mind they are in a contract with this same provider but they don’t like them so they won’t take her. They said it takes them longer to pay. All good but they’ve put us in a position to have to scramble and self pay at the facility she’s currently in. It’s not acceptable in a world of over communication to just not bother returning phone calls in this kind of situation. As if the decision to move to skilled nursing isn’t hard enough on the patient and their families. We were excited about this facility and now we are under a tremendous amount of stress to accompany the mourning we are in because she can no longer care for herself. Shame on them.
