The security guards were relentlessly compiling nonsense. If you ever walk in to the school, you would know they don’t keep their priorities straight. The system is very slow, fragile, and inattentive. They should’ve got multiple teacher in assist, rather than one not showing up. Very disengaged and irresponsible.

This is honestly the slowest school ever! The offices are a waste of time, especially the financial aid office, they hold conversation with people they know despite the fact that the office is crowded and many students have to get to work or another class. They are rude and many times you end up being sent on missions that can be fixed in the office itself. The teachers are absolutely awful, I will say that there are a few teachers who are qualified to teach, but the percentage is very low. This school is ran more like a business than a place to help students further themselves. They often have teachers who are too old, whom do not understand how to even use the school Blackboard site. It takes forever to see an adviser as well. In my last semester I received a new adviser who had no time what so ever. Each time I made an appointment with her, she had to cancel on a 3.8 GPA graduating student, because she was so busy. If you want a school that is going to put you first, I suggest honestly moving to the suburbs and attending Oakton Community College. I really wished I never went to this school, most students who attend are there solely for a refund check and to jerk around. I did what I needed to do to pass, and so can you but if you are someone who values quality then I would chose classes and teachers very very carefully.

The teachers and advisors are great, the at the front desk are terrible. I have never encountered such rude humans ever. They are lazy and unapproachable. Some have been here for YEARS and it shows in their lack of professional demeanor. I cannot wait to finish this semester, so I can take my hard earn money elsewhere. That front security desk brings down the quality of this establishment.

Good Professors but the building itself is outdated, uninspiring and dingy - I was underwhelmed considering it's in the heart of downtown Chicago - interior design and architecture really does affect students' learning - I simultaneously attended Malcom X & the building feels open, motivational & breathable - i walk in and am inspired to learn there

At HB There's no cafe/dedicated eating area, closest thing to it is the lounge in the basement which every time I went there I turned right back around because it feels overrun by hyper middle schoolers (anime adults) playing pool and screaming - I have to go across the street to chain restaurants to eat

There's also no good study/lounge area - closest is the area on the second floor but it's limited with space and has an awkward layout

I had an excellent experience in the Digital Multimedia Design department. The three classes I took were so enjoyable and I learned so much, I tried to take another DMD class this semester, but it was full (I will try again). The teachers were very knowledgeable and helpful, the students were friendly, and I really felt like I gained some useful skills. Taking the DMD classes was one of the best decisions I've made. I also took other classes several years ago at HWC, and the teachers were very nice back then as well.
