The Hawthorn Gardens sells some of the most interesting and healthiest plants in the Northern Chicago Suburbs. If you saw an interesting looking plant online, there is a good change you will find it here. They do sell some very common plants as well, but in my opinion, this greenhouse is unique by the health/quality of the plants and the variety of unique plants -indoor and outdoor- they sell. You might notice the prices are a tad be higher than Home Depot ($15-$50). However, these plants are much healthier and stronger than mass grown common plants at Home Depot. They do have sales, so definitely keep an eye out for those. I took some pictures of the plants I picked out during my last visit.

Friendly helpful staff. Lovely, healthy plant selection. Great fairy garden area with itty bitty plants and accessories. Cool home and garden accent decor too. Love this place! It's fun to visit even if you don't end up buying anything. The whole front area is landscaped with ponds and garden decor.

Love this place. the layout is awesome, and I love looking at everything they have. I always come here to get spicy birdseed. They have beautiful flowers there and the staff there is super helpful. I am personally not a gardener but like to get hanging plants every year, and they have been so great with educating me on what I can use based on where I hang my plants. Highly recommend

Great, wide selection. The staff are wonderful, and helpful. I was able to get lots of tips from what fertilizer to use, recommendation for compost and what shrubs were able to work best with the amount of sun I get around my house. Love this place!!

I have been driving past this place for years and finally stopped in and had a look. I am so glad I did. They have so many cute things for the garden, not to mention supplies to keep my garden and lawn looking good.

This is a great place for your gardening needs. Friendly and helpful staff as well. I went there asking about invasive plants in my garden. One of the managers walked me thru all the sample plants I brought, pointing out which were good, which were bad, and how to get rid of them. Did I mention the excellent selection of plants and decor as well?
