Keith (owner) and his staff are amazing to work with! Very reasonable prices and great selection of plants and landscaping needs. After years of mulching our yard, we ordered stones from this nursery and they are beautiful. We will continue to shop local and come here!

They were refreshingly friendly and attentive. They were careful to tell patrons which plants it was too soon to plant outside (because of cold soil temp and hard frosts still coming) even though it meant losing the sale. That's integrity! We found a tree we'd been searching for. We tried Hoelterhoff because we knew they had donated to the community, and we were glad we did.

My first time here, I didn't feel like dealing with a huge packed nursery far from home. I was very pleasantly surprised at the lovely selection!!! Including many natives, and things to just don't see at those big box garden centers. Everything looked very healthy too. They were so helpful, as I'm a novice. Slightly higher price than big box but you get what you pay for.. lovely plants and flowers that aren't overly "engineered" for lack of a better term. This is my new go to.

I wrote a review on June 10 citing a bad experience I had with his nursery. The nursery issued a response to my review that I take exception to. Since I did not see a means to send a counter-response, I am including it here.
I had mulch delivered that had soil mixed in it. When I asked for fair consideration it was not received well, in my (the customer's) opinion. I was first offered a pittance amount ($4 off per yard for material that is nearly $50 per yard).
The owner cites that I did not contact them until "over 30 days after the material was delivered." This IS accurate, but there are logical reasons why this was the case. Often, when mulch is delivered to a customer, the customer is unable to immediately start spreading it. This was the case for me. I could not start spreading the mulch until a couple weeks after receiving it, so I was unaware of the full extent of it's condition (until I started digging into it). In addition, after spreading it, I had to go out of town (for 3 weeks). It should not matter that this amount of time went by! The amount of time that went by did not alter the fact that this nursery DID supply me with faulty material! I presented pictures to the owner that substantiated the dirt in the soil (I can post these pictures if owner requests). If this nursery really wanted to rectify their error they would have done so despite the time that went by.
In the nursery's response, they also further deny responsibility by saying the mulch was not ruined since I was able to use it. The mulch WAS ruined! IT had soil in it! Who wants soil (that's weeds can root into) mixed in with their mulch? It WAS ruined! I was simply able to spread it in different area behind my property where it is not readily seen. Furthermore, because I did use it, I wasn't requesting consideration for that particular load. Instead, I asked for consideration off the NEXT load I would order (giving them further business). I suggested that we split the difference (as is often times done in cases like this). I thought that was fair.
The owner correctly cited in his response that they did waive one of the delivery charges on the 2-trip load of materials I ordered. But now they want to use that as compensation for the ruined much. That equates to giving the customer something, and then taking it way!
The owner also sites that he was going to offer me another solution (other that the pittance offer he first made), but that I would not listen to it. This also is NOT accurate. During our final conversation (when I came into the store), the owner DID tell me he was going to offer me another solution. Before telling me this solution (which I would have listened to) he told me to "take my business elsewhere".
When all the facts are in, I stand behind my negative review. The fact that the owner sent the response that they did further demonstrates that are not willing to take responsibility. I was shocked that I was treated this way after my long history with this nursery, and that they cite they are family and strive to treat their customers like family. Not a good way to treat family!

One of the only places that offers triple shredded premium hardwood. It was great quality and it really stays in place. Happy with the customer service and delivery too. Best delivery rate around.
