Monticello Ecological Park - Monticello, Florida

This park is on the same road as county municipal office. Supposed to be a flagship project, it was a really great park but has seen little to no maintenance.

Still open but Hurricane Helene officially took the little it had remaining. A dozer has recently been through however debris/burn piles remain high along the trail, much of the infrastructure is destroyed, and the trail is in poor condition.

We hope this only city park can shine again.

Me and .y partner are fairly healthy. We did the whole trail system twice in about 40 minutes at a leisurely pace. A nice casual walk through the woods with good info graphics about the trees. The trail system is fairly well maintained. Partially dirt/sand trail and boardwalk over the wetland areas. They equipment around that seems to be for working out is not maintained at all I would not reccomend using it. A nice place to walk your dog.

This nature trail is a little hidden gem in Monticello. My family and I have lived here a little over a year. This is the first time we had visited this park. My teens enjoyed the walk as well. There are stands along the path that have information about the trees and also fitness stations. The fitness stations however are run down. It would be nice if the bridges were also cleaned off more often. My teens and I felt like we were going to slip several times going across. The whole trail takes about thirty minutes to walk. Overall a neat place to just enjoy nature and enjoy God's creation.

10/17/2021. If you enjoy nature walks/hikes, birding, wildlife and beautiful scenery this is the place to be. True the workout equipment is in dis repair and the Rest Rooms and Picnic Area is very hard to get to if your disabled or visually impaired there is no signage on how or where it is. However the good points are it's truly a beautiful place to walk, run, take photos, study plants, trees, a few awesome bird species and a wonderful place to relax.

We of (RBB) love our park and are trying to restore and rejuvenate our beautiful park with tactile signage and directional markers to make it accessible to disabled, sighted and the like. This has been our goal for quite some time, we also volunteer in trying to keep our park clean when weather and health permits. My husband is blind and birds by ear we are Ornithologists and Eco-Conservationist, it's a wonderful place for citizen science, birds, insects, trees and plants...just needs some TLC...(tender love and care.) You bet it's worth our efforts. It's a hidden Birding Gem.

Beautiful! Can’t wait to explore more of these beautiful trails. But make sure to use bug spray. We walked around about 15 mins and my legs have at least 15 bites.

Great little park with easy and marked trails. There is actually only two parking spaces, one handicapped spot and one regular spot. It's limited in that aspect unless you don't mind to park on the side of the tiny street. The boardwalk (green trail) is really nice!

Very peaceful spot to stop for a few minutes while I make my way home from Monticello Ecological Park.
