Great boondocking area. Plenty of space for any sized rig. I stayed here for a week at the end of Jan 2024. Quiet, clear night sky, easy to find a level spot, close to free dump station down the road. ATT 5G service was great while i was here.

Water, dump and trash are in town. I would definitely stay here again when in the area.

A large area of BLM land where you can camp for 14 days. There are no fees, no registration, and no host. From the time you exit the highway until the sign that says day use only ( at approximately 2.6 miles ) you can camp on either side of the road for up to 14 days. Plomosa Rd is paved. There are dirt roads off of Plomosa rd that lead to large rock parking areas. There are large rocks and random fire rings everywhere. 2wd low clearance ok just watch for random large rocks and wash outs. I found a great spot near the trees at 2.5 miles on the left. Arriving at night is not advised. It is very hard to tell where to go at night. Roads are not marked. You can literally camp anywhere up to the day use only signs on Plomosa Rd. Very nice clean area.

One of my favorite boondocking areas. Beautiful sunsets, cool mountain views and great hiking. A bit of noise from the road but it isn’t too busy.

This is an absolutely fabulous location to camp when you are in the area. The amenities are fantastic and the majority of folks camping here are quite friendly. I was amazed at the amount of help. I was given setting up my camp and taking care of my trash. Somebody came by every day to pick up trash, which was really nice. We were able to get free wire and firewood for the campfire in town at the woods shop.

Heading out tomorrow. Loved it here! However, Plomosa Road is beginning to fill up as mid January treks along. The camp host was fantastic and very informative upon arrival. This is my first time dry camping for more than 10 days. Lots of land to spread out for FREE! I will return soon.

We love boondocking here: amazing sunrises and sunsets, wide open spaces and we always hook up with friends or make new friends here. As a tip to new campers here: stay a bit further away with your rigs from the areas that have vegetation: it is prime mouse and pack rat territory. Also I would suggest you keep your four legged frienda on leashes: there are coyotes out here and they travel in packs .... plus check the dips in the washes before you drive in since thete are some that are deeper than others. Most of all enjoy the beautiful dark sky aka the stars and the great winter weather ?

We boondocked here in Plomosa Rd for the first time on our way home from the Grand Canyon. Its a large campground ⛺️. We felt safe here, quiet even tho we were by the road. Had no idea Quartzite was this beautiful!!!
