Pratt Guys did out pool - outdoor kitchen - lanai area. If I had to do it all over again Pratt Guys would get the call. They are the best to work with From Adam and Derrick to Jack the designer to the whole crew they are 1st class. No BS straight up answers and they get it done. They have great control of their sub contractor also. We are 100% pleased. Just remember folks you get what you pay for.

Thank you, Pratt Guys! We are beyond thrilled with our pool/outdoor space! It’s as though we’re on vacation at a private resort whenever we step outside! When we first started thinking about adding a pool, and potentially an outdoor living space, we had very few ideas of what we wanted. The Pratt Design Team process began with walking us through general size/layout ideas based off our house and backyard, along with potential HOA restrictions. We then worked with Jack on the real design phase. He was very patient and understanding as we have always dreamt of a pool, but again not really sure what we wanted or the possibilities of what our space could bring us. Every detail of the pool itself, sunken kitchen, living space, equipment and future additions to our backyard was thoroughly covered with us. To make a long story short, Jack provided several options to choose from and surprisingly we chose the one that we hadn’t initially considered! And, we LOVE it! The entire space turned out to be above and beyond anything we ever would have imagined. The Pratt Team handled everything – including HOA documentation, applications and permits. Overall, the process went very well and we are enjoying the outdoor spaces every chance we get!

We were looking for a contractor who could not only build a pool & pergola, but could also handle the new construction of a pool house. We didn’t want to deal with more than one contractor, who likely wouldn’t communicate with each other properly, so we hired Pratt to take on this project. The scope of the project changed tremendously, and Pratt happily took on our new requests. After talking with other companies in the beginning and comparing thoughts on how to remedy certain situations, we felt like Pratt had the expertise and were the most skilled. We felt like their problem-solving skills were excellent. We threw new things their way - one being a golf-simulator room where they had to work in tandem with another company and it requires them to take on a good bit of extra communication. They happily tackled it. It was obvious that they aimed to keep us happy. This was such a large, detailed project and Pratt handled it beautifully and created such an amazing backyard & pool house project for us. We love it and appreciate all the hard work that went into this project, beginning with the amazing planning of this project with Jack to all the hours and hours spent managing and communicating. They always say that you get what you pay for. We could have hired a cheaper company, but we sure would not have gotten the quality and service that Pratt Guys has delivered, and continues to. The whole Pratt family is involved and are all good, honest, down to earth people, who are easy to deal with and communicate well throughout. Having grown up in the construction business, I know what the run around looks like, and I never felt that way with them, even when things didn't go right.

We live on a very wet hill. Our house has a walkout basement. And our foundation sits on limestone. To say that we have a difficult piece of property is probably an understatement. So hiring a company that could handle our drainage and other issues was important. We knew while interviewing potential contractors that we were hearing a lot of lip service and not a good knowledge of what they would be dealing with. This wasn't a slap a pool in the ground kind of project, and we wanted much more than that...the whole outdoor experience. From the first day Pratt stepped on our property, it was clear that they understood what they would potentially be dealing with and how to address it. AND they could make our wishes come true.

While it was a very long process, it was all worth it in the end. The Pratt Guys started with a full 3D digital mockup of our project, which was very important to my visual learning self, especially with the massive scope of this project. The end product was about as close as you can get to that original 3D plan. From the beginning to the end (and even now as we work through the kinks), both brothers were easy to work worth. The Pratt Guys have the resources/contacts/expertise to cover everything, every part of the project and every issue that may arise. They were always responsive when we had questions or issues, even responding to texts on the weekend, and even now when things come up. They are truly dedicated to their craft and the clients they serve.

And I think you would agree, the outcome is fabulous. We love every inch of it, and plan to do a second phase soon!

Bottom Line Up Front: Everyone will tell you Pratt is expensive. Every Pratt customer will tell you they are SO GLAD they went with Pratt. Including us.

Most Impactful Memories With Pratt: Most responsive communication from any contractor I’ve ever experienced. Quality workmanship, you see the same people throughout the entire project. The delivered product is like you see in their showroom. Materially, you get what you pay for.

From an experience perspective, you will have a much better experience if your going in attitude is that a project of this size has a lot of moving parts. Pratt will work with you as much as they can. However, once everything is set in motion, there are limits to what they can change and there will be a change cost associated with it.

“Just The Facts” About The Project: We are in Tamaya, Jacksonville FL. Our backyard is rather small and about 25% of it was taken up by a pre-existing pool. Pratt provided a professionally prepared computer aided design that took into account sun angle and shade provided by the existing house and proposed pergolas/structures during different times of the year. We accepted their first design with no changes.

Pratt installed an outdoor kitchen, adjacent seating area, and an outdoor changing room with toilet and sink (we wanted the changing area and toilet to keep wet kids from running in and out of the house). The kitchen includes a grill, separate burner, sink, icemaker, refrigerator, kegerator, outdoor TV, and under counter storage. The kitchen, seating area, and changing area are covered by a pergola roof. Pratt also replaced the entire pool deck and installed an outdoor sound system and lighting for the entire area. Pratt installed a walkway from the front to the backyard. Pratt re-routed and reinstalled our irrigation system. Pratt arranged all city/county inspections and executed and obtained approval of all Home Owners Association paperwork for us.

Payment: Pratt takes payment by ACH or bank check, not credit card, so you need to be ready with an idea of your cashflow ahead of time. There is an initial deposit and then larger payments throughout the project that coincide with material and work stages. There is a final small payment at the end. We are small business owners and Pratt worked with us when the last large payment came due at the end of the year but we wanted to move it into the next year and Pratt accommodated. Pratt reserves the right to change project cost based on rising inflation and rising costs. This happened to us but I will say it was less than I expected. We considered the adjustment fair.

In terms of size and material, this was not a physically large project, but it was complicated (toilet in the back yard, confined space to fit everything without crowding, etc). We had to deal with the national “logistics crisis” and the end of COVID so a 5-6 month project turned into almost a year but that was out of Pratt’s control. Pratt is adamant about using the same craftsman/artisans in their work so occasionally there were delays waiting for material or a particular craftsman to finish a previous job but we did not attribute the delays to Pratt since they were up front about what could happen. Pratt did have a number of concurrent projects but we never felt like we were just a number to them.

Final Thoughts: As a small business owner, I would hire them to work for me again without hesitation. The owner once said to me once that he tries to build for his customers the way he would build for himself and family. He was good to his word.

I contracted The Pratt Guys to build my patio after meeting them at the Jacksonville Home and Garden Show in 2017. After the initial consultation in 2018 I knew they were the ONLY company to hire to build the patio design I had envisioned. They treat you like family throughout the entire process. They worked with me on design changes and made recommendations which improved my initial design. They were always available via phone, email or texts to answer and address my questions during the design and construction processes. The build crew’s attention to detail exceeded my expectations and I’m very picky and expected nothing other than excellence. They met that expectation from start to finish! I highly recommend Pratt Guys for whatever you can dream up for your back yard! From start to finish for this large project everything went smoothly. Adam Pratt was so easy to talk to and help us from start to end . Always available always helpful. I wanted an unusual pool i did not want what everyone else had. So the designer
Jack was the man ! Beautiful design in the shape of my pond behind and tweaking it just the way i wanted it. He was a perfectionist. My wants were met. I wanted to entertain without having anyone needing to step foot inside my house. So full bathroom with shower. Summer kitchen and an extra storage room closet because why not can always need extra storage. All under a concrete cabana with tongue and grove ceiling and skylight . The huge structure flawlessly attached to my house !! The best part the pool i wanted it all and got it all heated salt water , water feature and fire pit and overflow glass Spa .
Hubby wanted a screen. I said do not block my view so extended screen it had to be and 2 stories of course to cover me at the balcony too from insects while i can still watch the nature outside like deers in the morning the hawks otters and owls at night . They did it all started November 2022 ended April in time for my daughter birthday party. I had to do nothing , they dealt with the HOA other contractors , clean up everything. They worked around the clock came early and
left late. fixed back my sod and my outdoor lights to better than original. My neighbors had no complaints they actually only had compliments because they were so conscious of not getting in anyones way with the trucks and machinery .
i tell you I am OCD i pay attention to details and can be a pain and i barely had anything to complain about and when i did they were there in a heart beat Eric was always Responsive /
and very helpful .
Man totally worth it. If you want your back yard done right look no further and trust me i shopped around. Glad i made this decision i don’t regret it for a minute !
