A big shoutout to Fred at Scancelli Landscapes for a fantastic back yard design. We had a 30 year old backyard with numerous palms and tired old flagstone. Fred created a chic, modern space with areas for dining, cooking, and relaxing. The difference was absolutely dramatic! He was easy to work with, always good humored, returning phone calls and emails promptly. He listened patiently to want we wanted and made suggestions till we had a design we loved. His 3D modeling helped immeasurably to visualize what the project would ultimately look like. We just had a party for the neighborhood and the yard got rave reviews.

Let me just start by saying that Fred is great!!! I got Fred's connect via a referral from a friend when we were looking for a designer to help us with the landscape design for our new home. I reached out to him and he was very responsive and we met at the property which was still under construction at the time. I explained to him the initial plan we had and what we wanted to do and how we wanted to use the space. He shared pictures of the landscapes he had designed and asked me to send him some pictures of what we liked online and in a few weeks he came up with 2 designs for us to review. He sent us the virtual rendering of the 2 designs within a few weeks. Once we reviewed the designs we met with Fred again and picked elements that we liked from the 2 designs for the final design. He also spent 4-5 hours with us at a local nursery to help us pick all the plants for our space which was especially helpful since we didn't know much about plants. Next we spend a few days choosing the hardscape tiles and Fred was also very helpful with that selection process and he recommended stores to visit. By this time we had moved in and he came to our house and spent a good amount of time with us helping us narrowing down what will work with our home and the design. Once we had decided on the material we would use he made a final design and generated all the detailed plans that we would need for the city and HOA approvals. Fred also recommended a few contractors that he has worked with in the past and who he thought would be good to execute the design. He also helped us submit the plans for the HOA approval and later helped the contractor with the city approvals when the city needed additional information/documents. We are very happy with Fred, he is very knowledgeable and a great designer. He has a lot of experience and points out potential pitfalls and design elements that can become a problem either from an implementation point of view or from a city/HOA approval standpoint. He is a very nice person and super easy to work with. He listens to your ideas and concerns and addresses them in a very timely manner. I found his prices also very reasonable and he is just very good at what he does. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a landscape designer.

We couldn’t be happier that we discovered Fred at Scancelli Landscapes. We’ve landscaped multiple yards now and will be going to Fred on any future landscaping projects. We came to Fred with our vision and our budget. He was friendly, responsive and listened to what we wanted. Since he only does design work (as opposed to design-build/contractor) there was no pressure to do add-ons or upgrades. Fred listened and gave suggestions but if it didn’t work for us then he would just adjust the design to fit.

Fred visited our house so we could explain in detail what we were thinking. We did multiple iterations, of which he created 3D designs to help us better visualize how it would look. Once we had the general concept down, he then went with us to the nursery to pick out our plants. Once the plants were finalized, he then created a final iteration showcasing the layout along with the plants we had chosen! Then he sent us the drawings in digital format and dropped off hard copies for submittal to our HOA.

We were very excited and satisfied with Fred’s communication and ability to put our vision into an actual design. At this point we thought his work was done, but he wasn’t done – far from it! After approval of the design by the HOA, Fred recommended multiple contractors that he had worked with in the past so that we could bid the work out and find the right one for us. Throughout the bidding process, Fred kept in touch with us and asked how the process was coming along and if his referrals were working out.

We did go with one of his referrals, and the work was completed about as perfectly as we could expect. Fred even came out to meet with the contractor and make sure that they understood his designs. In our mind Fred’s work was done a long time ago but he still wanted to see it through to the end. Once the work was done Fred came out one last time to see the finished job.

We’ve left other positive reviews for contractors in the past but our experience with Fred left us in awe. Thank you, Fred, for making a generally stressful experience become a positive and enjoyable one. We appreciate how easy it was to share our vision, your excellent communication and perhaps most of all your going above and beyond to make sure we were happy!

We recently did a complete landscape renovation and the absolute best decision we made was enlisting the help of Fred from Scancelli Landscape Designs. It took some time to get the initial appointment with Fred, but he was so worth the wait! Fred is professional and easy to work with. He helped us discover what We envisioned as our perfect back yard paradise. Fred provided us with not one but two complete and fully implementable designs along with videos which was vital for us to "see" the possibilities. The final design plans were incredibly detailed which made it easy for us to send out to contractors.

Fred also helped my husband and I when it came to ideas for materials. He would reply to my many emails with very thoughtful responses and shared his opinions which we valued. I know our end result benefitted greatly from his input! I really felt that Fred wanted the best for our design and he stayed in touch after his job was done to see it completed

In my opinion if you are taking on a landscape project you should absolutely try to work with Fred! We love our new yard and it never would have been possible without him!

I interviewed several landscape designers before deciding to contract with Scancelli Designs. I was influenced by Fred’s professionalism, design portfolio and his willingness to patiently listen to our wants and needs. Fred put together an amazing 3D video that detailed his preliminary design ideas. Seeing your design presented this way made it so much easier to make decisions. From hardscape design to plant selection Fred was a pleasure to work with. I never had the feeling that he was pushing his own design agenda but was actively listening and working toward our preferences. Fred has my unequivocal recommendation. His plans were instrumental in being able to effectively bid my project and his fees are more than reasonable.

We were first introduced to Fred after we saw the amazing design he did for my son and daughter in law in Ladera Ranch. Fred came to our home and asked all the right questions. He presented us with two designs and we incorporated ideas from both to come up with our perfect plan. His plans were so detailed that when the project was finished we had exactly the yard we dreamed of. We are looking forward to working with him again when we redesign our front yard. Fred is the best!

I decided to hire Fred for the landscaping design work for my new house, because I was afraid of finding out mistakes after the work is completed. His design turned out to be beautiful and well balanced, which I found out when my contractor finished the work. A couple of mistakes I found out were that of my contractor, not that of the designer. Insop Song

I needed to get my landscape/hardscape completed for my new home and started getting quotes from different providers...Big Mistake!!! Trying to work directly with a provider without a succinct and coherent plan made this a futile exercise. I did some research online and came across Fred at Scancelli Landscapes. I can't say enough good things about working with Fred; On Time, Affordable, Professional, Organized and he knows what he is doing.
