My plant was in some serious need of attention after I was caring for it “too much.” In my defense I was trying to make sure it stayed hydrated

That resulted in me overwatering a plant my mom gave to me and it’s over 25 years old. This plant cannot die on me.

In a panic I called around seeing who could revive my plant. Vern Goers helped me pick out a pot, they repotted it and told me how I should care for the plant.

My plant got a bit of a haircut and is in great shape now! Looking forward to its fresh start

Just the best🌷 Everyone I’ve interacted with was so knowledgeable and helpful. They have a beautiful variety of plants, flowers, vegetables, and more. The prices for all the items I purchased for my garden were actually cheaper than online!! It’s also such a calming space to walk through. 🙂

Vern Goers Greenhouse is awesome! First time stopping in, I felt right at home. I am a landscape contractor and outside of work, I have a love for plants. I'm always in and out of nurseries, garden centers, greenhouses, big box stores but this place is hands down the best and different than the rest. Plants are in an abundance and all very healthy.
So much to choose from, you could spend all day there. Staff is knowledgeable about what they are selling and can point you in the right direction if you're stuck. Highly recommend stopping in and taking several plants home.

Incredible selection and friendly staff! I don't know how I've never known about Vern Goers Greenhouse before today but I'm glad I came across this place. Absolutely blown away by the selection of indoor plants, outdoor plants and veggies. I don't think I've ever seen this many varieties of peppers and tomatoes. Wow!
Their flowers are beautiful. The fuchsia's are the most beautiful that I've seen compared to any other place in Chicagoland. I loved every part of this greenhouse and I'll definitely coming back... probably tomorrow already. Staff was attentive and informative. I can't recommend this place enough!

I do not recommend Vern Goers based on how incredibly rude I was treated when visiting today. After spending about an hour looking around & creating what I thought would be the perfect flowers for my flower boxes and selecting some already created planters, I needed to go to the restroom. I went back to where I thought I remembered there being a restroom when shopping there last year (in a customer open area - I wasn’t meandering around a back room or anything). I quickly found the restroom & a mom standing with the door propped open while her son was washing his hands. As I’m outside waiting, before the mom could even get out the door, an employee (who from looking at pics on FB, looks to possibly be an owner or manager), swooped in. I heard the mom apologize for letting her son use the restroom, I then see the sign on the door that said, “employees only,” (because the door was propped open until now). I then simply asked the employee if there was a customer restroom. I did not ask curtly, I did not ask rudely. If anything, I asked meekly. Because typing can’t express tone, it is impossible to relay in writing how incredibly rude her response was. She just rudely looked through me & said, “no, only exception is for kids” & then she proceeded to partially close the door to go in & use the restroom herself. Before she fully closed the door though, she apparently felt the need to make one more jab & opened the door back up to say, “or I could explain it to you?” in THE most condescending, demeaning tone! As if I’m a two year old & she needs to explain it to me. Again, all I asked was, “is there a customer restroom?” My issue is not with them not having a customer restroom (although frustrating) it was in the combative, demeaning & incredibly rude manner this employee chose to speak to me in. Had she simply said in a kind, empathic tone, “I’m so sorry, we don’t” I would not be writing this. As it happened though, she met my question with such bite, it took me aback. I don’t speak to anyone in the tone she spoke to me in but somehow she felt it was appropriate to speak to a customer in this way? I of course left my pallet full of selected flowers immediately following this interaction (which was the only interaction I had with any employee in my hour there) & will not be back. This was supposed to have been a fun Mother’s Day event, instead…it was quite the opposite - I left in tears. I know Mother’s Day is probably your busiest day…it may be a stressful day but it doesn’t excuse how I was spoken to today.

While I will never be back & filled all my flower needs 8 minutes down the road at Home Depot, I share my experience so that hopefully this woman will reflect back & be kinder to others then she was to me today.
