Do NOT Hire Wilcox Nursery landscaping

I have been a customer of Wilcox Nursery in Largo on and off for 8 years. I recently hired them to weed and mulch our front bed. My husband and I put this off for a while due to cost. We paid~ $1800. This is what it looks like 2 months later. I have called and their answer is, “Because I didn’t have maintenance” which is ~$175 this is normal. This is theft in my opinion. I am so disappointed and angry. My husband splurged on this project as a gift to me and it is worse than when they started. Please do not allow yourself to be scammed by this nursery.
The reply was to pay for maintenance. Why would I do that when they didn’t do the job in the first place? Weeds not killed by herbicide so they wan to do it again I believe the straw had weeds in it. It is far worse and different weeds than I have ever seen are there. Again pay more for a job that was not done properly? Really? Do NOT hire them.

Excellent location, parking, beautifully healthy plants and fabulous staff.
Cameron helped us pick the perfect combination for our newest landscaping project. Extremely knowledgeable, pleasant, and patient. They even deliver the plants for a small fee!

We can't say enough good things about our experience with Wilcox Landscaping services. Paul Meyers designed a plan for our back yard that was intuitive and beautiful, while maximizing the space in our small lot; all while using plants and trees that are native and environmentally sustainable.

Raul De la Garza took Paul's plan and designed an amazing foundation for the bricks and pavers that make up the majority of our yard. His work is nothing less than artistic! He also built 4, two-tier garden boxes for our herbs and they also show a mastery of carpentry!

Pablo and Gavin installed the irrigation system which works like a charm, guaranteeing good health for our new plants.

I highly recommend Wilcox Nursery landscaping and Paul's team for your next landscaping project!

Update:
This is our second project with Wilcox Nursery and once again we are very pleased. Working closely with us, landscape architect Paul Meyers created a design for our back yard which turned the space into a mini-botanical garden. Using only native plants, he designed a lush and beautiful back yard for us to enjoy.

We live on a barrier island and sadly our home was severely damaged by the flood caused by hurricane Helene. As soon as we were able to have our backyard fence rebuilt, we called Paul who came right out and created a new design for the renovation of our back and front yard. The plants were installed in a timely fashion, and we are very pleased with the results.

Thanks to Paul Meyers for the designs, and to Gavin and Pablo for instillation of the irrigation system and the plants. Our initial design included custom made pavers and grow boxes which were designed and installed by Raul de la Garza; the pavers and grow boxes survived the flood caused by hurricane Helene.

I’m a native plant enthusiast and grower. Just illustrated a native plant gardener’s journal for Kentucky native plants. I’m working on a Florida version now. The trip to this highly recommended native plant nursery was to photograph some plants and maybe bring some ideas back to Kentucky native nurseries.

I found plenty of plants to photograph. A lot more selection than is typical of our fledglings native nurseries in Kentucky.

What else will you find here? Plenty of free parking. Flowers, shrubs, trees. Loads of info for free like lists of plants for bees, pollinators, birds, shade, etc. Dr Tallamy’s books as well as others. Info on Florida Native Plant Society and Homegrown National Park. Lots of gift ideas in the gift-shop.

Friendly and helpful employees too.

I absolutely love this place with all my heart! I have a real passion for Florida native plants and they have the best selection I’ve ever come across!! I found them through the FNPS website actually when I was looking for someone who sells Buttonbush.
They’re the only place I’ve ever found selling sea oats and I was so glad to finally be able to plant some in my garden 🙂

I love being on their email list, I don’t live anywhere near the nursery but I still love seeing all the events they do and appreciate the advice they give on when to plant what
They have an event called a caterpillar mixer and seriously one of these months I’m going to drive all the way from Miami to go to one! (So important to me that you know they put those emojis in the email subject line, it brings me so much joy)

We are very happy that we chose Wilcox nursery, and Paul Meyers and his crew were great. They did a bang up job, were friendly and cleaned up after themselves.
We had a general idea of wanting Florida native/friendly plants in our backyard design but no cohesive plan. When we shared our thoughts with Paul he listened, and developed a well thought out plan that integrated some existing palm trees with the plants he recommended. He took time to explain about the plants we were not familiar with and what we might expect as they grow into the landscape.
Paul's experience and eye for design came through, and we now have just the backyard oasis we dreamed of but could not have come up with on our own.
Thanks so much Paul!!

Wilcox nursery is the place to go for all of your native plant needs. I am redoing the butterfly garden and they were extremely helpful with helping me find the right native plants that will help the local pollinators and wildlife in my area. Their selection of trees and shrubs is excellent and their pricing is right in line with other places. Their staff is also very knowledgeable in all things native plants. Definitely coming back for more plants for the front yard next

Wilcox Nursery is hands down the best native plant nursery in the area. Their selection of unique and beautiful Florida native plants is truly impressive, and their staff is not only incredibly friendly but also deeply knowledgeable about every aspect of native gardening.

What really sets them apart, though, is their outstanding landscape design team. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Paul on two separate projects for our home, and his vision and artistry are second to none. The end result has exceeded our expectations every time. The installation team is equally amazing—professional, hardworking, and meticulous. We couldn't be happier with the transformations they've made to our yard, and we highly recommend them for anyone looking to create a sustainable, native and stunning landscape!
